Roland Barthes Theory

Barthes described all the text as a complex bundle of meaning which can be unravelled to create a whole range of different meanings.

According to Barthes text can be:

  • Open: With numerous threads to pul
  • Closed: with only one obvious threads to grasp
These threads Barthes referees them to  as a narrative code. The most significant of these codes is the Enigma code.

The enigma cde is usually introduced in the disruption phase of Todorov.
