Case Study

Director Jamie Thraves made a short film at University, and he used that short film to get himself in to the filming industry. It worked out well in some way as he made 3 shirt film with a budget of £5000 for each film.

This is how the process worked-

  • A commissioner from the record label send the track out to 5-10 different directors
  • The directors then each all submit and idea
  • At this stage no one is paid
  • Then the record label picks the best idea and then chooses that director
  • Only then is the director paid
And this is how Jamie Thraves became known as he submitted his idea and they are now known as the two best music video's.

They are :

1) Radiohead- Just
    £100,000 budget
    filmed in three days

2) Cold play- The Scientist
    £200,000
    filmed in three days

Jamie Thraves most song is for a japanese pop star and the video currently cost £20,000 and that was filmed in two days so one day less than the other two songs he directed.
